‘il cubo dei due mari’…
The “Cube where two seas meet” is located in Puglia on the southernmost tip of the Salento peninsula in the municipality of Gagliano del Capo near Santa Maria di Leuca.
Situated on the highest point of the ridge that offers views of Leuca and overlooks both the Adriatic and Ionic coastlines, it is an ideal spot for enjoying the sunrise over the Adriatic cliffs and sunsets over the Ionian beaches, just a few kilometers away.
The small building stands on a 1.2 -acre (5000 m2) plot of land characterized by an olive grove, citrus trees and Mediterranean scrub.
Originally a storage shed for farm tools and foodstuffs, particular care was taken during refurbishment to create a home with the smallest possible footprint on the land, both environmentally and architecturally, completely respectful of Salento’s millennia-long history and traditions.
All materials used are natural, biocompatible and sourced from the local area.
Fully independent from the munical water supply and electrical grid, the household water requirements are met by an 8000-liter underground tank while electricity is generated by photovoltaic panels and a small wind turbine, which is then stored in batteries on the premises.
It is truly an autonomous building with zero environmental impact.

The house, the living areas, the amenities
This 430 sq ft (40 m2) house can accommodate a maximum of 4 people.
Subdivision of spaces:
The entrance leads directly to the living area, furnished with a sofa area arranged around the wood-burning fireplace. The open kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, pantry, fridge small work table.
The master bedroom, with a double bed and a large wardrobe, is located in the south-west part of the house, leading directly to the patio terrace.
The guest room is furnished with a double bed and is located on the north-east, with private access from the outside.
The bathroom has an ample shower with a view of the Adriatic sea. The french windows open onto an outdoor shower.
There are two patios, one facing west with a large table ideal for evening dining and another one on the south-west, with a smaller table for breakfast.
